Litton’s Market – Restaurant – Bakery: A Knoxville Staple

image

Sunday marked three months that Matt and I have lived together (!), and I have yet to venture out much on the food scene here in North Knoxville. So on Wednesday, I decided to treat myself to a restaurant that is one of Knoxville’s gems: Litton’s Market. They have been serving Knoxvillians since 1946, and they have quite a unique history!

If you look closely, you can see me in the reflection. Ha

The weather was absolutely perfect, and I am so glad I was able to get out and enjoy the incredible blue skies and fall foliage. The restaurant was hustling and bustling with customers. I had to eyeball the dessert case because I realize one of their famous offerings is their pies and cakes.

Boy did they look decadent! I seated myself at the bar and proceeded to enjoy a wonderful lunch.

I started with a simple side tossed salad, which was crisp and refreshing.

I chose their grilled Portobello mushroom sandwich and decided to eat it open-faced. It had a wonderful chargrilled flavor, and I personally didn’t miss meat at all. It was really tasty.

I had a difficult time choosing which dessert to try! Ultimately I had to go with their white chocolate pumpkin cheesecake. I enjoyed half of it with some of the whipped cream, and I cannot wait to enjoy the remainder with a hot cup of pour-over coffee in the comfort of my home. 🙂

It’s really easy to see just how much Knoxville loves this place. Check out all of these awards throughout the years! I’m glad I can now say I have tried this establishment, and I look forward to my next visit!
